AI Study Assistant
Upload PDFs or Images – Groq will explain the extracted text in your chosen language. No API key required.
Drag & Drop or Click to Upload
Supports PDF, PNG, JPG up to 15MBAI Analysis & Explanation
How it works (Groq)
Since Groq models are text-only, the tool first extracts text from your file:
- Images (PNG/JPG) → OCR using Tesseract.js
- PDFs → text extraction using PDF.js (scanned PDFs that contain no selectable text may fail – convert them to image first)
Then the extracted text is sent to Llama 3.3 70B Versatile on Groq with instructions to explain the content like an expert tutor.
Why This Tool Exists & Who It’s For
Studying from PDFs, scanned worksheets, or photo‑snapped exam papers often means you have to manually re‑type questions before you can search for answers. This AI Study Assistant cuts out that busywork.
Who benefits
- Students – Get instant answer schemes and explanations in your native language.
- Teachers & Tutors – Quickly generate model answers for assignments or past papers.
- Researchers – Summarise and clarify dense academic text from scanned documents.
- Lifelong learners – Understand any printed material without language barriers.
The tool runs entirely in your browser; the extracted text is processed by Groq’s ultra‑fast LLM, and you never need to share an API key.
How to Use – Step by Step
- Upload your file – Drag & drop a PDF or image onto the upload area, or click to browse. You’ll see the file name appear.
- Choose language & style – Select the explanation language (e.g., Sinhala, Hindi) and the desired output style: Exam Answer Scheme, Detailed Analysis, or Simple Explanation.
- (Optional) Preview & edit text – Click “Extract & Preview Text” to see what the OCR/PDF engine found. You can correct any misread characters before sending it to the AI.
- Analyze – Hit the main “Analyze & Explain with Groq” button (or “Analyze This Text” from the preview). A progress bar will appear while the AI works.
- Use the results – The answer scheme appears below. You can copy it, download as a .txt file, or print it directly.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
This usually happens with scanned PDFs that contain no selectable text (i.e., pure images). Convert the PDF page to a clear PNG or JPG first, then upload the image. The built‑in OCR will then read it correctly.
Make sure you selected the correct language from the dropdown before clicking “Analyze”. If the Groq model sometimes switches back to English, try a more specific style (e.g., “Exam Answer Scheme”) – the prompt forces the chosen language more strictly.
The free Groq tier has rate limits. Wait a minute and try again. If you’re using the tool heavily, consider obtaining your own API key and replacing the one in the code. The error message will tell you the exact reason (e.g., quota exceeded).
PDF.js extracts only the text layer of the PDF. If the document is a scan, no text layer exists. Use the “Extract & Preview Text” button to see the raw output. For best results, convert the page to a 300 DPI image and upload that instead.
Yes, the interface is fully responsive. You can upload files from your phone’s gallery or take a photo directly.
Only the extracted text is sent to Groq’s API. The original file stays in your browser and is never uploaded anywhere. Your privacy is protected.
